Events and Competition
Events; 4-H is full of events to attend - community service opportunities, competitions, club and county events, 4-H camps, and more. All 4-H events attended can go in your record book, and thus count towards your star ranking.
Competition; 4-H also has many opportunities to show off everything you've learned in your project. Food fiesta allows members in food or livestock projects to cook and present a dish to a panel of judges. Imaginology, formerly Youth Expo, is held at the OC fairgrounds, where members can enter something relating to a project they're in, such as a poster or something they made. Presentation day is where a member writes and prepares a reading, speech, demonstration, and more, and can advance all the way to state level competition. At fairs such as Imaginology or the OC Fair, animal project members show their animals, and market animals are also auctioned off. These events are truly experiences that can't be replaced. Competitions are a part of the events, but ones that members can show their unique skills and talents. Members are given ribbons, pins, medals, and even trophies for their hard work, and it's a great experience.
As events and competitions come up, a drop down tab will be created for them, with all the information you may need, and some may have pictures. Each page will remain up until the end of the year so you can go back and put them in your record book.
